ABOUT US...

Ruahine School is nestled under the Ruahine Ranges, in a dairy, beef & sheep farming area just south of Dannevirke. We have a proud history of achievement, success and community involvement. The school was opened in 1953 after it was decided that 3 local schools should merge together to make 1 new, much larger school. Since that time 2 other schools have merged with Ruahine School, the latest happening in 2003 when Rua Roa School merged. This merger has been a huge success. The children are happy, excited about the future, keen to learn and proud of their achievements.

As a Year 0 to 8 primary school, we are committed to developing children's academic achievement and social abilities. To this end we value and promote:

Values

Literacy & Numeracy Skills

Thinking Skills & Inquiry Learning

Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

Information Literacy Skills

The Arts

Achievement in Sport & Fitness

Social Responsibility

The school thrives on strong community support. This partnership allows us to do many things that other schools could only dream of. For example, the creation of an indoor swimming pool, school car park, library, sandpits, playgrounds and astro-turf pitch.

We are very proud of our school and what we are achieving.
