Covid-19 Distance Learning

Kia ora families and whānau,

On this page you will find an overview of what online distance learning will look like at Covid-19 Level 3 and 4. Those who let us know that they didn’t have internet at home will receive paper-based packs instead. You will find further information about what each team is doing below, along with a list of other websites that are useful to help children at home.

We are sending learning home to help keep children learning, as well as giving children some sense of routine and normality. Please do what is right for your family. The most important thing is your family’s well-being. All teachers are available via email and you may even receive a phone call or two to see how you are going.

Kupe Team

If required, Mr Dewar and Mrs Senior will open a ‘bubble’ at school. If this happens, Mrs Karena will be in charge of the disance learning for the Senior Hub and Ms Mudford will be in charge of distance learning for Rooms 3 and 4.

Senior Hub (Year 6/7/8) – Mrs Karena and  Mr Dewar

Every ‘school day’ the Senior Hub teachers are sending learning to both parent and student email addresses. Most of the learning is taking place through Google Classroom and SeeSaw (students are used to using these in class!). Hub teachers are able to check student learning and give them feedback and feedforward. Parents and students can make direct contact with teachers via email. Teachers can also phone you to help if needed.

Room 3 (Year 4/5)  and Room 4 (Year 5/6) – Ms Mudford

Every ‘school day’ Ms Mudford and Mrs Senior will email through learning to parents’ emails. Some of this will take place using SeeSaw and Google Drive/Classroom. Ms Mudford and Mrs Senior will be checking learning daily and is available via email. Student can either work digitally or work on paper and take a photo. Mrs Senior and Ms Mudford will check your learning, provide feedback and comments.

Room 5, 6, 7 (NE-Year 3) – Mrs Gibbs, Mrs Cammock, Miss Pryor

Online learning for the Pounamu Team is being managed through the teacher emails and Seesaw. Some learning will be printed off and sent home along with packs of levelled books.

Pounamu teachers will, as needed, send a daily distance learning notice via email at around 5pm with the next day’s learning. This learning should take approximately 2 hours and can be juggled flexibly to suit your home.

Pounamu teachers will respond online via their teacher email to photos of the children’s learning and provide next steps for parents and students to try at home. Our Seesaw portal is a great place to share learning with our classmates and to keep in contact with each other. You can upload directly to your child’s Seesaw Journal using your ‘Home Learning Code’. We also post links for songs, games and online learning opportunities.
