GIFTED & TALENTED

A talented or special ability child is one who demonstrates ability significantly higher than that achieved by children of a similar chronological age. A gifted child is one who has exceptional abilities in relation to their peers.

The learning needs of our gifted and talented students are met through their involvement in differentiated learning programmes within the classroom and through involvement in special programmes, competitions and events held in our wider school community.

Examples of special programmes at Ruahine School: Mathex, Otago Problem Solving Challenge, Kids Lit Quiz, Interschool Events (swimming, aerobics, athletics, cross-country, speeches).Â
